About Us

The Board of Directors of Sisters In Survival is comprised of people whose lives have been profoundly affected by ovarian cancer. We are enriched by our differences, united in our common war, and determined to help all ovarian cancer patients obtain the treatment that will best serve their lives for recovery.

Dave Park – President/CEO
Dave succeeded his mother, Barbara, as President and CEO after her battle with ovarian cancer ended in 2013. He is committed to carrying on her vision of SIS in an effort to achieve her goal to that no ovarian cancer patient will ever have to forgo treatment options because of an inability to pay.

Kathy Kiefer – Vice President
Kathy’s life was profoundly affected when she lost her mother to ovarian cancer in 2001. She is resolved to making life easier for patients who are currently battling this disease. Through her efforts in Sisters In Survival, Kathy is devoted to the goal of offering help and hope to all members of the ovarian cancer community.

Janice Coggins, MSW – Secretary
Through her twenty-five years of social work, and her certification as a spiritual advisor with the AZ Ecumenical Institute for Spiritual Directors, Jan is unrelenting in her mission to help ease the burdens that an ovarian diagnosis can bring. As an ovarian cancer survivor, she offers both a sensitivity of spirit and a matter-of-fact approach to our goal of making a positive difference in the lives of our sisters in this fight.

Yvonne Turley – Treasurer
Yvonne is a dedicated wife, mother, educator, and student. She is both a thirty-year breast cancer survivor and a long-term ovarian cancer survivor. Yvonne is a beacon of hope and a source of energy and inspiration to everyone who knows her.

In Memory of Helen Fortune and Barbara Park:
The board of Sisters In Survival is forever indebted to our sisters and co-founders Helen Fortune and Barbara Park.

As a gifted attorney and educator, Helen brought her dogged determination, her ethical consciousness, and her worldview of social justice to our organization.

A renowned children's author, Barbara's incredible work ethic and passionate belief in her causes served as an engine that propelled SIS.

Their memories are honored with every patient we serve.
