The Board of Directors of Sisters In Survival is comprised of a sisterhood of women whose lives have been profoundly affected by ovarian cancer. We are enriched by our differences, united in our common war, and determined to help all ovarian cancer patients obtain the treatment that will best serve their lives for recovery.
Barbara Park – CEO
Barbara is a New York Times best-selling author. She is resolute in her belief that optimal cancer treatment is an entitlement and not a privilege. She is committed to the goal that no ovarian cancer patient will ever have to forgo treatment options because of an inability to pay.
Helen Fortune – Secretary
Helen is an attorney with a Ed.D. in education. As a committed member of Sisters In Survival, Helen brings her dogged determination, her ethical consciousness, and her world view of social justice to our cause.
Yvonne Turley – Treasurer
Yvonne is a dedicated wife, mother, educator, and student. She is both a thirty year breast cancer survivor and a long term ovarian cancer survivor. Yvonne is a beacon of hope to all of us who live with the fear that a cancer diagnosis can bring. She is proof positive that— with the proper diagnosis and treatment options—cancer is indeed, survivable.
Kim Fanicullo – Vice President of Marketing
Kim comes from a long and successful background in sales and marketing. Her family has been deeply touched by both breast and ovarian cancer. With a strong sense of purpose and commitment, Kim is dedicated to the mission of finding sources of help for all ovarian cancer patients in financial need.
Michele Avery – Board Member
Michele is a long-standing activist for many ovarian cancer causes. Prior to joining Sisters In Survival, Michele was the founder and vice president of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Arizona where she spearheaded awareness programs and fundraising events. Currently, she is steering her energies toward raising money for ovarian cancer research, as well as advocating for patients in need. Michele is undaunted in her efforts to this fight disease on all levels, and she is a true gift to our Board.
Kathy Kiefer – Board Member
Kathy’s life was profoundly affected when she lost her mother to ovarian cancer in 2001. She is resolved to making life easier for patients who are currently battling this disease. Through her efforts in Sisters In Survival, Kathy is devoted to the goal of offering help and hope to all members of the ovarian cancer community.
